COAT CHECK#1: TGL x MAJOR HIP HOP BLOGS

As I was on my way to work, my friend 1*o.A.k text me that “The Guest List” show is featured on www.nahright.com.  I had to see it for myself, and sure enough it was there.

That same night, I went to go see Havana and Jesse Boykins III perform at 330 Ritch in San Francisco, Wiz Kid (the creator of the Honor Roll) told me that “The Guest List” show is featured on www.2dopeboyz.com also.

DJ Sake-1 drops knowledge about PST, the center of DJ culture, how he became a DJ, the first hip-hop station in the Bay Area, and how to become a Jedi Master in music. BeatStreetS also gives you a first listen to a very rare live track by D’Angelo from ?uestlove.

Just when I was becoming uninspired to make music, I got a random message on Myspace asking if I wanted to participate on a project. The person who sent me the messege was DJ Jamad. For those who don’t know, DJ Jamad is 1/6 of The Aphilliates and has a radio show on Sirius weekly called Afromentals. In the message, he asked if I was interested in making some remixes with some artists he happened to run into. I was like sure. I felt that with this particular project, I need to make sure all of my “I’s” are dotted and my “T’s” are crossed because DJ Jamad was referred to me by Kenny Fresh. With that said, I spent the last of my spending money to go get 1 of my remixes mixed by my homie Jose at The Grill Studio’s in Oakland. We were there for about 4 hours mixing the track the best we could, because anymore time, I would not have been able to pay my rent for that month. The songs I remixed are “Have You Ever Made Love to a Weirdo” and “Members Only” by Hollyweerd. Hollyweerd is a group from the ATL. If you don’t know who they are, you need to find out soon.
